Best Wye Routes
& Paths
The Wye Valley is packed with routes that don’t mess about.

You’ve got whaleback ridges with big views, quiet woodland tracks, old ruins tucked out of the way, and the kind of winding river paths you can just settle into for miles. Some are easy days out. Others get a bit rough underfoot.

This is a growing collection of the best loop walks I’ve found along the Wye — from the upper stretches right down to the lower valley.
Start here - a few sorted Wye Valley loops
to get you out on the trail:

Marsh's Pool Loop: Climb out of Llangurig, hit quiet backcountry lanes and hills to Marsh’s Pool, then swing round the pools hillside with open views before heading back down. Click to enter

LLandogo Duchess Ride Loop: A compact loop from Llandogo —riverside walking, a steady woodland climb to big views, waterfalls, and a straightforward return through quiet trails. Click to enter

This Boughrood, Wye, Mynydd Fforest Loop: Easy riverside start, then a steady climb to open views towards the Black Mountains/Brecon Beacons, before looping back on quiet lanes and hill paths. Click to enter
“More routes are on the way — I’m out there mapping them now.”
